Kansas ARVC Opts for Website Changes
Twenty-seven members from 13 RV parks and campgrounds attended the annual Kansas Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (KARVC) Spring Fling March 6-7 at Harrah's Prairie Band Casino in Mayetta, Kan.
The membership conducted an enthusiastic discussion and suggested changes in both its printed directory and online website, according to Mary Arlington, executive director. For the first time, the 2008 directory will be open to paid advertising from the member campgrounds. Up until now, campgrounds appeared in listings but were not allowed to advertise in it, she explained. The website also will undergo some changes recommended by the membership.
Guest speakers at the Spring Fling included Becky Blake, director of the Kansas Department of Travel and Tourism, who outlined her department's efforts to promote tourism in Kansas as well as nationally and internationally, as well as Dick Carter, executive director of the Travel Industry Association of Kansas, who addressed tourism promotion.
Representatives of Friend Communication Inc., Leavitt Recreation & Hospitality Insurance and Peridot Corp. Peristar Wi-Fi also made presentations, while KARVC welcomed new members Dan and Kathy Kull, owners of the new Forbes Landing RV Park in Topeka.
New officers: President Sheila Wagner, USI RV Park, Wichita; Vice President David Kepler, Walnut Grove RV Park, Merriam; Treasurer Pat Morgison, Watersports RV Park, Dodge City; and Secretary Mary Arlington, High Plains Camping, Oakley. Arlington will continue as the paid executive director of the association.
The association returns to the Prairie Band Casino for its 2008 Spring Fling on March 3-4.
