An undeveloped campground in Santa Clara County, Calif., will experience a $1.7 million makeover, according to CBS Ch. 5, San Francisco.
The County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors has approved major upgrades for the Lakeview Meadows campground at Coyote Lake-Harvey Bear Ranch Park, which is located in the Diablo Range just east of Gilroy.
The site currently includes restroom facilities and informal parking.
Following construction, the camp area will feature 17 RV campsites with water and electrical hookups, a shower facility, new landscaping and an amphitheatre. The project will also add a new trail between the existing Lakeview campground and the new camp area.
“We are committed to helping residents enjoy outdoor activities,” Supervisor Don Gage said in a statement. “The Coyote Lake Campground Improvement project will help us do just that – offer exceptional recreation opportunities right in our backyard.”
The project is set to begin at the end of the month and be completed by spring of 2008.
