The South Padre Island, Texas, KOA Campground played host on Thursday (Aug. 2) to the CBS “Morning Show” broadcast. Drawing the attention of a national media was Kampgrounds of America Inc.’s (KOA) involvement as a national sponsor of the Great American Vacation Giveaway for which CBS News has a specially decorated, 40-foot Winnebago Class A motorhome traveling the country this summer to promote the giveaway.
The RV is spending most of its nights in KOA campgrounds throughout North America.
Tom Brooks, manager of the South Padre Island KOA, appeared live on the CBS Early Show Aug. 2 to present a special prize package to a recipient selected by CBS. The prize package included three nights in one of the several new Cavco park models recently placed along the waterfront at the South Padre Island KOA, as well as parasailing, fishing and free meals during their stay at the South Padre Island KOA.
“We had more than 500 local residents show up at 5 a.m. for their chance to appear on live TV,” said Brooks. “The exposure for this new, and very special KOA, is invaluable. It really lets the locals know that we are here, and the tremendous reach of the CBS Early Show gives us fantastic national exposure that you just can’t get anywhere else.”
The CBS Early Show Great American Vacation Tour continues each Thursday through the end of August.
