An account to benefit residents of a British Columbia RV park affected by last week’s hot air balloon tragedy is expected to be up and running next week, according to the Langley Times.
Hazelmere RV Park & Campground’s Ed Zandbergen said Aug. 30 he’s meeting with a lawyer this week to make the arrangements.
His family owns the Hazelmere facility where the Aug. 24 accident took place. Two women died and 11 others were injured when a hot air balloon owned and operated by Langley-based Fantasy Balloon Charters went up in flames during launch preparations.
Five residents of the RV park were left homeless after the flaming basket landed on one trailer, triggering a fire that gutted three homes, destroyed two vehicles and damaged several other properties.
Zandbergen said counselors met with about 16 residents Wednesday to offer support. A few people from outside the park also stopped by the session, he said.
