The Parks and Recreation Department in Grapevine, Texas, Keep Grapevine Beautiful and Keep Texas Beautiful have teamed up for the Lake Grapevine Waterway Cleanup, which is ongoing through Oct. 13, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Volunteers are sought to help clean up parks, trails, sports fields and campgrounds that were devastated by the summer flood. The official cleanup kickoff is on Saturday (Sept. 29). Supplies will be provided, and free T-shirts will be given to the first 500 participants. After the cleanup, there will be a celebration at Dove Park with free food and music.
The city of Grapevine has filed for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance, and for every volunteer hour worked, the city can utilize $13 in its match with FEMA. Volunteer hours must be documented. Every person and/or team who volunteers three hours or more will be eligible for various prizes.
