Newport Dunes Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort, Newport Beach, Calif., is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a series of special offers and events throughout 2008.
Deemed the “Ritz of RV Parks” by the Los Angeles Times for its picturesque location and numerous luxury amenities, the Dunes will begin marking the milestone by offering a number of “golden opportunities” throughout the year including RV sites for $50 (offered randomly throughout the year) and extravagant dinners at the resort’s award-winning restaurant, the Back Bay Café, for only $50, according to a news release.
The state-of-the art 386-site RV park boasts such amenities as doublewide spaces that are individually fenced for maximum privacy, outlets for cable TV and 20-, 30- and 50-amp electrical service.
Highlights on the Dunes’ golden anniversary calendar include the resort’s annual summer kick off event during which the resort’s giant mascot whale – painted a brilliant gold to commemorate the milestone – will be launched into the lagoon, extravagant Fourth of July festivities featuring the most spectacular fireworks display in the history of the region and a special anniversary-themed “Lighting of the Bay” tree-lighting ceremony and Christmas celebration that will feature live musical performances by top acts.
The Dunes’ 50th anniversary also will mark a new beginning for the Back Bay Café, which is slated to undergo a $ 1.5 million renovation. A grand opening event will be held to unveil the restaurant, which will be transformed into an upscale dining establishment.
“You can already feel the excitement in the air as we’re well on our way in planning what will be the most extraordinary year in Newport Dunes’ history,” said Andrew Theodorou, the resort’s vice president and general manager.
The Dunes also is home to 24 park model cottages that the public may rent.
On-site conveniences include a waterfront restaurant, a market/grocery store, pool and spa, game room, fitness center, tiled restrooms and a 450-slip marina, six-lane boat launch ramp, dry boat storage and extensive conference and meeting facilities.
