State funds totaling $296,000 were released by the Ohio Controlling Board to support renovations at the Camp Perry Training Site campgrounds in Ottawa County east of Toledo in northwest Ohio, State Sen. Randy Gardner, R-Bowling Green, announced on Monday (Oct. 29).
The funding will allow a 1,540-square-foot shower and bathroom facility to be built at the camp’s new 40-unit recreational vehicle campground, which was built in 2006, according to the Toledo Blade.
The showers and bathrooms can accommodate between 120 and 150 campsites, so it will provide amenities for all current sites and allow for future expansion.
The new facility is the final part of a renovation project that brought new roadways, electrical and plumbing systems and parking pads to the campground.
The camp also received state and federal grants exceeding $1.6 million in August for a joint-use military-law enforcement training center.
