Light Parade Visits Yuma RV Parks Tonight

The 20th annual Foothills Parade of Lights in Yuma, Ariz., continues tonight (Dec. 20) with the convoy of lighted vehicles traveling through recreational vehicle parks in the community, according to the Yuma Sun. The parade of cars, trucks, sand rails, dune buggies and other vehicles covered with holiday lights and decorations began making the rounds in some neighborhoods Wednesday night and will continue through Friday night. Texas RV Resort Building Grand Lodge

Mill Creek Ranch Resort in Canton, Texas, has begun construction of its Grand Lodge, which will become the centerpiece of this upscale RV resort in East Texas. The lodge, when complete, will be an elegant Texas ranch house, featuring sprawling timbers, expansive ceilings, 26-foot tall glass windows and Austin Stone inside and out, according to a news release. Three Parks Join Leisure Systems Inc.

The Jellystone Park system now includes 73 locations with the addition of parks in Pine Grove, Calif., Fletcher, N.C., and Eufala, Okla. Leisure Systems Inc. (LSI), franchisors of the Yogi Bear Jellystone Park camp-resorts, announced these additions in its current newsletter. The new franchisees are: Pine Grove, located 50 miles southeast of Sacramento, is owned by John Darcy and operated by Liz Johnson. Oregon Woman Dies in Storm’s Aftermath

A Lyons, Ore., woman was killed early Monday (Dec. 17) when a huge tree fell on her truck and camper at a Grand Ronde, Ore., campground, according to KATU-TV, Portland. Authorities blamed recent rains that saturated the soil around the tree for possibly causing the tree roots to give way and the tree to fall on its own. TACO Publishes Texas RV/Camping Guide

The 2008 edition of the Texas RV Travel & Camping Guide lists more than 400 campgrounds and RV resorts in Texas and New Mexico. ‘Winter Texans’ Arrive Early This Year

The Northeast Campground Association (NCA) made a stop in Maryland’s Washington County in the fall as part of its 2007 Great Escape. Approximately 50 NCA members visited and met at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park as part of the annual event, according to herald-mail.com.
