Record Number of Go RVing DVDs Distributed
Early into the 2008 retail show season, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) reported that promoters have already requested a record number of Go RVing consumer DVDs with more than 120,000 slated to be distributed to consumers at upcoming events.
“The entertaining, customer-friendly Go RVing DVDs have grown in popularity since they were first introduced to show promoters in 2005 and continue to be a highly effective promotional tool,” said Gary LaBella, RVIA’s vice president and chief marketing officer. “The DVDs provide a great introduction to the world of RV travel and enable showgoers to link directly to the Go RVing website, conduct dealer and campground searches and get more information on the RV lifestyle.”
Dave Kelly, marketing director for the Florida RV Trade Association (FRVTA), said the DVDs provide a broad range of information for consumers at different levels of RVing.
“About a third of our attendees are not RV owners and they need to get as much information about the RV lifestyle as they can,” he said. “The experienced RVers also scoop up the Go RVing DVDs up because they are interested in finding out even more about RVing.”
Shows that have already ordered the DVDs include: the Colorado RV Adventure Travel Show in Denver; 47th Annual RV & Campground Show in Allentown, Pa.; the 2008 Florida RV SuperShow in Tampa, Fla; and the PA RV and Camping Show in Camphill, Pa.
“The Go RVing DVDs addresses a key consumer need by making them aware of the types of RVs that are available in the marketplace,” said Dave Brody, show manager for Affinity Group Inc. “By educating the public about the options available to them, the DVDs help consumers make better buying decisions.”
At the conclusion of the retail shows, Go RVing will follow up with show promoters, sending out questionnaires about the volume of traffic, sales and consumer interest to get a feel for where the industry is headed in the upcoming season.
