The California Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (CalARVC) has scratched its annual fall convention, moving it back to the spring in 2009. And for the first time, the convention will join forces with associations from Idaho, Arizona and Oregon.
The spring convention’s theme is “ReV up in Reno”and will be held March 2-4 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Reno, Nev.
CalARVC, formerly known as the California Travel Parks Association, used to hold its convention in the spring, but a few years ago the convention was moved to the fall, explained Debbie Sipe, executive director. Spring was a bad time to attract attendees, and parks would have cash to spend at a trade show after a successful summer, she said.
“While these reasons were valid,” Sipe wrote in the current issue of CalARVC News, “the hoped for attendance did not materialize. In addition, having a convention in September adds duties to an already busy staff since it falls at the same time they are finishing the annual membershiop drive, advertising sales and publishing the camping guide.”
CalARVC will host the 2009 convention in conjunction with the Arizona Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, the Idaho RV Campgrounds Association and the the Oregon RV Park and Campground Association.
The convention will feature a trade show and seminars in three tracks (Park Operations 101 and Advanced and Technology).
