Louisiana Mayor Backs RV Park Plan
Thomas Nelson, mayor of St. Martinville, La., a suburb of Lafayette, says right now, tourists come into town, get gas, maybe grab a bite to eat and then they leave.
He says having an RV park would change that.
That’s why he is encouraged by the State Department of Parks and Recreation, which is drawing up plans and looking at possible sites for a new RV park in his parish (county), according to KATC-TV, Lafayette.
In the running are the old Talley’s Construction Co. headquarters, Longfellow-Evangeline State Park and City Park.
Nelson says without the $2 million in state funding, the 80-site project wouldn’t be possible.
