Ohio State Park Campgrounds Set Record
Campers in Ohio are pitching their tents and anchoring their recreational vehicles closer to home as the price of gasoline continues to rise.
Over this Memorial Day holiday, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Parks and Recreation reported that 32 campgrounds were full, a new record and up from last year’s 26 full campgrounds, according to News-Herald.com, Willoughby, Ohio.
“At least in our case the goal is to keep people in Ohio and outdoors. We want to make our parks friendly for campers,” said Dan West, chief of the Parks and Recreation Division.
Last year, the division saw the number of campers at the agency’s 57 parks increase 6% to 1.88 million.
