The Good Sam Club and the Trailer Life Directory have launched new websites, and, respectively, to encourage social networking and meet the growing needs of blogging RV consumers.
With these new elements, RVers can stay connected with one another, as well as access and share valuable information to prepare for and enjoy life on the road, according to a joint news release.
"RVers love to talk about their experiences and share tips on their travels with other RVers," said Sue Bray, executive director of the Good Sam Club. "These two websites provide RVers with all the tools and resources needed to stay connected with the RV community and plan their next road trip at the tips of their fingers."
The newly re-launched Good Sam site will provide an online community for members and RV owners to create profiles set to their own privacy specifications. Through these profiles, they can share and display favorite photos, travel destinations, campground experiences, recipes, travel journals and information about their hobbies and interests. Members can form groups and communicate with those who share similar interests.
Nearly 17 million people are age 62 and older, many of whom are RVers. A recent study found that retirees spend three-quarters of a billion minutes a day on the Internet collectively, or an average 44 minutes per day individually. Much of this time is spent blogging. The new Good Sam Club and Trailer Life Directory websites respond to this growing online trend with social networking elements, the release stated.
In addition to social networking components, users of the Good Sam Club and Trailer Life Directory websites will have access to Trailer Life Directory's newly enhanced campground search and all-new trip-routing tools to receive comprehensive campground information and enhanced RV trip routing. Created for RVers, the new trip routing tool is based on truck routing software. This is especially important for RVers who need to avoid low bridges, steep grades and congested city streets.
Trailer Life Directory Web Features
The Trailer Life Directory website re-launches as "The Ultimate RV Travel Web site" and offers five useful segments for users:

  • Explore, which provides sections on destinations, interests and activities, RV shows and events.
  • Plan, which provides sections on campground search, trip routing, RV park reservations, travel check lists and activities and My Travel Planner (an online travel organizer).
  • Share, which provides an RV community space for blogs, photos, journals, forums, groups and personal profiles.
  • RV Resources, which provides helpful RV links, an RV glossary, tech and maintenance information and RV sales (for buyers and sellers).
  • Travel Store, which offers a selection of products and services for the RVer to purchase online.
Users will also be able to search for Good Sam Club locations along their route and easily locate where members will receive their 10% member discount benefits.
Every year, each private RV park featured in the Trailer Life Directory is inspected and rated based on completeness of facilities, cleanliness of restrooms, visual appeal and environmental quality, to provide RVers with a basis for selecting the campground that best meets their needs.
The new Good Sam site, previously restricted to members, will now offer limited access to the general public and the Good Sam Club member-invited, registered users.
Combined, the websites for the Good Sam Club and the Trailer Life Directory serve as the leading resource for 3.2 million RVers annually.
Affinity Group Inc. (AGI), the nation's largest provider of outdoor recreation clubs, services, media and events, is the parent company of the Good Sam Club and Trailer Life Publications, publishers of Woodall’s Campground Management.
