The Sandy Springs Campground 20 miles west of Portsmouth, Ohio, recently celebrated its grand opening.
The campground and park, located along U.S. 52 on the scenic Ohio River, features 30 sites and private restrooms and showers, according to The People’s Defender, West Union, Ohio.
“This has taken me about 2 1/2 years to finish,” said Henry Sloan, the campground’s owner and manager. “I’ve put about $260,000 into the project so far.”
Sloan isn’t finished yet, however. He still plans to continue building onto the campground and adding more attractions for his customers to enjoy.
“Right now I’m looking into building a large concrete boat dock onto the site,” Sloan continued. “In the future I’d like to add on a basketball court or maybe even a swimming pool.”
Rates are as follows: $20 per night; $100 per week; $250 plus electricity per month; and $1,200 plus electricity per year.
