Oneida County in northern Wisconsin now has its first county-owned campground. But the week-old Oneida County Forest Enterprise Campground is much more than a place to camp out. That’s because the campground offers campers the chance to enjoy their ATVs.
The 10-lot campground is located about 10 miles south of Rhinelander in the town of Enterprise, according to WJFW-TV, Rhinelander.
John Bilogan, the Oneida County forest director, says the county always wanted to operate its own campground, but it didn’t have the financial means. Now, after two years of planning, the county has its own campground, thanks to grant money from the state.
Bilogan says, “The whole campgound cost $145,000 and approximately 95% had come from the ATV program at no charge to the county.”
The campground provides customers with free firewood, to keep out invasives. Restrooms and drinking water are also available.
It costs $10 per night to camp out at the Enterprise campground.
