California RV Park Gets “Green” Certification

The unique environmental protection programs of Vineyard RV Park in Vacaville, Calif., have helped it earn Solano County’s third official “green” or environmentally friendly business certification.
It is the first firm in unincorporated Solano County to receive the recognition, and the first under the expanded program, the county said, according to the Vallejo (Calif.) Times Herald.
Solano County launched a pilot green business program in July 2007 to encourage small- to medium-size businesses that handle or generate hazardous waste to voluntarily undergo a rigorous certification process. The program since expanded to include other businesses wanting the green business certification.
At the Vineyard RV Park, energy consumption has been reduced through the installation of more energy-efficient light fixtures while low-flow shower heads and aerators reduce water consumption, the announcement notes.
The firm also orders all recycled-content office supplies and green cleaning supplies, it adds.
Vineyard RV Park is a 110-site Good Sam park located three miles north of the junction of I-80 and I-505 in California’s Wine Country northeast of San Francisco.
