The board of the California Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds’ (CALARVC) subsidiary corporation voted this week to sponsor a special “shoulder season” promotion the first weekend in October 2009.
The board will promote a $50 Weekend as part of its California Camping Campaign, according to Debbie Sipe, CALARVC executive director.
Member parks will be encouraged to offer two nights of camping for $50 as a means to increase their shoulder season, she said.
The special weekend will appear in the CALARVC camping guide which goes out each year to tens of thousands of prospective campers.
The CALARVC board considered promoting the $50 Weekend as early as spring 2009, but with spring break spread out over many different weeks, there was no clear weekend that would not conflict. A fall weekend was deemed to be better, she said. This also will give the association and its members adequate time to promote the weekend, she added.
