Authorities say two or three people were injured by a lightning strike in a large campground at Sturgis, S.D., Tuesday (Aug. 5) night, according to the Associated Press.
Rough weather in the Black Hills forced the cancellation of motorcycle rally concerts and events.
The lightning strike took place at the Glencoe CampResort.
Winds of 70 mph struck Box Elder and the Rapid City airport.
West of nearby Spearfish, hail piled up two feet high in some places.
Power was out briefly in Sturgis, and the packed streets emptied quickly as rally goers ducked into downtown businesses or sped off on motorcycles to get out of the rain.
