Two new primitive tent campgrounds have been opened on the Kal-Haven Trail between Kalamazoo and South Haven in southwest Michigan.
The Van Buren County Road Commission, which operates the trail between the 10th Street trailhead just west of Kalamazoo to its end in South Haven and Lake Michigan, announced the opening of the Goddess Grove Campground, near Gobles, and Eagle Point Campground, near South Haven, according to the Kalamazoo Gazette. Motorized vehicles are banned from the hiking and biking trail.
The cost of a camping pass for both facilities is $15 per night, said Jeff Mitchell, special-operations officer of the Road Commission. Campers also must have trail passes. At the west end there are two tent camping sites at Eagle Point and six at Goddess Grove at the east end. The sites will be closed in winter.
