Tropical Palms Resort, a family and seniors destination bordering the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, has tapped Royalty Resorts Corp., a division of United Kingdom-based Bourne Leisure, to manage and operate the resort for the next 12 years.
Royalty Resorts also manages two highly successful North American resorts – Sun N Fun RV Resort in Sarasota, Fla., and Sherkston Shores Resort near Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada.
“Tropical Palms is a wonderful addition to our management portfolio and will benefit from the expertise we have built operating the Sun N Fun and Sherkston Shores resorts, which shares many similarities with Tropical Palms,” said Tim Deputy, regional director for Royalty Resorts, in a news release.
According to Deputy, immediate plans for Tropical Palms include a $1 million investment in facility improvements: repaving roadways, new landscaping, redesigned lobby/check-in area and a renovation program for 75 rental cottages.
Many of the improvements are already underway, with the first phase scheduled for completion by December.
The resort comprises 200 vacation cottages and 375 RV sites on 60 acres characterized by towering oak trees. Cottages are available for rental or purchase and can accommodate four to six guests.
Resort amenities include a poolside café, general store, heated swimming pool, kiddie pool, recreation hall, children’s activity and arcade area, and volleyball, shuffleboard and horseshoe courts.
Tropical Palms is owned by Equity LifeStyle Properties Inc., a real estate investment trust based in Chicago.
Bourne Leisure is one of the largest providers of vacations and vacation home ownership in the United Kingdom.
