Ohio Owners Visit 5 Parks on Sites Tour
The Ohio Campground Owners Association (OCOA) found a novel way to emphasize the word “fun” in its annual Fall Fun Day and Park Operators on Tour (POOT) Oct. 29-30.
The annual autumn event, this year hosted and organized by campgrounds in the southeast portion of the state, was headquartered at The Inn at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio, and included a murder mystery train ride and a progressive luncheon during the tour.
“It was one of our best-attended fall events in several years,” Kristy Smith, OCOA executive director, told Woodall's Campground Management. Approximately 80 people attended the event.
The two-day event began with a luncheon, followed by a hike in Ash Cave State Park for some 60 campground representatives. A cracker barrel was sandwiched in before the evening meal and a murder mystery train ride on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway.
The next morning the participants boarded charter buses and visited five campgrounds in the area. They were: Happy Hills Campground and Cabins, Nelsonville; Carthage Gap Campground, Coolville; Kountry Resort Campground, Racine; Lazy Dog Camp Resort, Jackson; and Scenic View Family Campground, Logan.
Each host campground provided one course of a progressive luncheon. It began with bagels and donuts, coffee and juice at the first site, followed by fruit at the next, then sandwiches, then light refreshments at the next and concluded with a fruit cobbler dessert.
Another cracker barrel, a POOT tour review and dinner wrapped up the conference.
OCOA members will convene March 13-14-2009, in Columbus for their annual spring conference and trade show.
