Pinched by falling revenues, Vermont state officials have proposed raising camping and rental fees at some state parks and imposing a $1-a-night fee for pets who stay at state park campgrounds, according to the Associated Press.
The proposals are part of a wide ranging plan to make $19.7 million in budget cuts that if approved would mean the layoff of up to 35 people, the closing of some highway rest areas and cuts to numerous health and human services programs.
“There will be an impact to nearly all areas of state government,” said Administration Secretary Neale Lunderville.
