Representatives from 80 campgrounds attended the 45th Annual Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA) Convention and Trade Show Dec. 7-10 in Grantville, Pa.
“It was one of the best attended we’ve ever had,” reported Bev Gruber, PCOA executive director. “It was an upbeat convention.”
Lori Severson, executive director of the Wisconsin Association of Campground Owners (WACO), spoke and outlined her program to assist PCOA in its marketing efforts.
PCOA has begun to market its members’ camping cabins on a separate website, Gruber reported. At least 143 of PCOA’s 230 member campgrounds offer cabins and are charged $225 per year to be listed on the site. The site has 17 campgrounds signed up to date and has already received more than 50,000 hits.
PCOA also sent letters to 108 non-campground facilities in the state that offer cabins in hopes that they would want to be listed on the site, she added.
Other convention speakers included campground representatives Alyssa Harlan and Blake Ashdown, who have spoken at the National School of RV Park and Campground Management at Oglebay; Tom LaCrone of the Pennsylvania Electric E Project; Peter Pelland from Pelland Advertising; and Guy Gagnon and Ken Roy from Evergreen Insurance.
The pesticide seminar attracted 49 people who received credits toward maintaining their state pesticide license. The trade show featured 49 vendors.
