South Dakota campgrounds would get hit in a number of ways as the state government looks to raise fees to businesses to help solve its financial budget shortfall.
The administration of Gov. Mike Rounds is lobbying for five pieces of legislation that will come before the state Legislature this year, according to The Aberdeen (S.D.) American News. Among them:
More fee-increase legislation is still expected, including in the environmental area and in filing fees for businesses.
The widespread increases sought by the Rounds administration as a response to state government’s financial difficulties go so far as to ask convicted criminals to pay more for their supervision when they are released from prison on parole.
