Trailer Life Teams Begin Work on 2010 Book

Sales teams are beginning to fan out over North America this week to gather information for the 2010 edition of the Trailer Life RV Parks, Campgrounds & Services Directory, the official campground directory for the Good Sam Club.
The 30 husband-and-wife teams met Jan. 26-30 at the Mandalay Embassy Suites in Oxnard, Calif., to go over plans for this year’s data collection, according to Cindy Halley, associate publisher.
Consultants Bob and Sharon Chamness assisted her during the conference and will help manage the day-to-day sales operation this year.
Sales teams assigned to Sunbelt states will begin first, and by May canvassing will have begun across the U.S. and Canada. The teams have until Aug. 28 to collect their data and forward it to Trailer Life headquarters in Ventura, Calif.
Trailer Life added several new advertising opportunities for the 2010 edition, including a program titled “First Time One Time.” Park and campground owners who have 25 overnight sites or less and have not advertised in the directory for at least a year will be eligible to buy a one-time, three-line/business card-size ad at a reduced rate. The ads will contain no artwork, except for a Good Sam Park logo where applicable.
“We were hearing from a growing number of parks that we were pricing them out of the directory,” Halley said. She hopes the new ad program will generate new customers and encourage former advertisers to return, she said.
Some 300,000 copies of the 2010 directory will be printed and available for delivery by the end of the year. Approximately 75% of the print run is pre-sold and goes to Good Sam Club members. Copies also are sold in bookstores and at RV dealerships and campgrounds.
