Camping spaces are already beginning to fill up in the resort community of Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, Canada, following the announcement of a July music festival, according to
Promoters expect more than 25,000 people will attend the July 10-12 Cavendish Beach Music Festival, headlined by country singers Tim McGraw and Reba MacIntire. The weekend is expected to be a record-breaking one for Marco Polo Land, one of the province's largest campgrounds, with 527 sites. It is making room for 150 more tents in an overflow area, and still, there are only 30 left.
"It's something new for us also. It's so big – three days," Marco Polo Land co-owner Harem Hoekstra told CBC News Monday.
"(We're) really excited. We think it's a great thing for Cavendish."
Marco Polo Land is less than a mile away from the concert site. Hoekstra expects the number of campers will even top those for the Aerosmith concert two years ago. Other campgrounds and cottages in the Cavendish area are booking up as well.
The city is located on the north shore of the island, and the campground is less than a mile from the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
