KOA Franchisees to Get Matching Dollars
All 460 campgrounds in the Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) system throughout North America will be eligible for matching marketing funds in 2009 to raise KOA’s profile in local markets, according to a KOA news release.
“Each year for the past six years, we’ve done an extensive survey of millions of campers that we call the KOA Kamper Satisfaction Survey,” said KOA President and Chief Operating Officer Shane Ott. “That survey clearly shows us that camping closer to home is a rapidly growing trend. We wanted to design a marketing program that would aid our franchisees in raising their profiles in their local markets.”
The new program, called the KOA Kampground Stimulus Plan, provides a dollar-for-dollar match to funds spent by KOA owners in four specific areas: newspaper advertising, radio advertising, direct mail and mass e-mail marketing. A total of nearly $500,000 in matching funds is being made available to KOA owners through the Kampground Stimulus Plan.
“The benefits of belonging to a system such as KOA really come forward during challenging economic times,” Ott said. “We truly believe that this is no time to hunker down and hope to wait out the recession. Now is the time to market aggressively, especially to your local guests, if you want to be one of the lucky ones still standing when the economy recovers.”
The Kampground Stimulus Plan provides KOA franchisees with newspaper, radio and direct mail templates to make it simple and cost effective to step up their local marketing efforts. KOA also will directly handle the production of all e-mail marketing efforts to each participating campground’s local campers.
KOA is a 47-year-old company founded and based in Billings, Mont., and is North America’s largest system of family-oriented campgrounds, with locations in 46 states and eight Canadian provinces.
