Louisiana Association Growing
The 5th Annual Louisiana Campground Owners Association (LCOA) Convention March 10 at the Paragon Classic Casino in Marksville, La., attracted 45 people representing 30 campgrounds.
Membership growth the past few years is spurring the association to expand its annual convention, which also is open to campground owners from Mississippi.
“We’re looking to expand our convention from one day to two days starting in 2010 to include additional exhibitor time and educational seminars for our members,” Sharon Vennen, LCOA executive director, told Woodall’s Campground Management.
The convention sponsored five seminars, which were sandwiched around the trade show featuring 14 vendors. Seminar topics and speakers were:
Vennen reported that business in Louisiana, where favorable weather allows campgrounds to remain open year-round, remains good.
“From all reports we had a pretty good fall and winter and look forward to the spring and summer seasons,” Vennen reported.
LCOA printed 40,000 2009 campground directories and has been distributing them at state visitor centers, through members, via the Internet and at RV shows so far this year in the state in Houma, Lake Charles, Kenner and Lafayette.
