Texas KOA to House 400 Pipeline Workers
The Rusk KOA in Rusk, Texas, will furnish camping space for at least 400 recreational vehicles housing workers on a major gas pipeline through East Texas.
Other campgrounds are expected to rent space to these workers.
Rusk KOA owners Walter and Carol Preble have requested that the city lease them 15 acres adjacent to the KOA campsite to provide extra camping spaces, according to the Cherokeean Herald, Rusk.
The pipeline crews are expected to be in Rusk for several months.
“When construction is at its peak we should have between 1,400 and 1,500 crew members working. Plans are to have the line finished by September,” said Mike Collier of Willbros, contractor for laying the pipeline.
The 42-inch pipeline through Texas is expected to be a $485 million project.
