Campgrounds Using Mainstream Internet Sites

Progressive RV campgrounds are turning to new marketing to insure their continued success during these uncertain economic times.
The new marketing being used is comprised of packaging activities, dining and tours with RV stays and promoting their business with mainstream Internet sites such as Facebook and Twitter, according to a column distributed by Examiner.com.
Two RV campgrounds that are leading the way of this new marketing paradigm are Junction West RV in Grand Junction, Colo., along with Hickory Ridge Golf Country Club & RV in Holley, N.Y.
Junction West has developed some very creative packages for their guests. Their Wild Adventure package includes: ”RV stay for two nights in one of our extra wide and long full hook-up RV sites. This package includes a full-day guided whitewater-rafting trip on the Colorado River through the Westwater Canyon with Adventure Bound River Expeditions, for two adults. On your second day, hike a wide range of trails amidst sheer-walled canyons, towering monoliths and colorful formations of the Colorado National Monument. Mountain bikers will want to explore the Kokopelli Trails or the rides at 18 Road, known to be some of the sweetest single-track in the Western United States. Grab a bite to eat at the Rockslide Brewery downtown using the $25 dining certificate included in your package and receive a free beer or fountain beverage of your choice with the purchase of an entrée. Stroll across the street and down the block to Planet Wines (Grand Junction’s only wine specialty store) and receive 10% off a single purchase of regularly priced wines to recall your adventure after you return home to rest.”
This past weekend the writer experienced their Grand Junction Golf and Wine, minus the golf package. “Bring your RV and stay for two nights in one of our extra wide and long full hook-up RV sites. This package includes two rounds of golf with a cart at Tiara Rado Golf Course set amid the towering monoliths and colorful formations of the Colorado National Monument. Drive though the Grand Valley vineyards, pausing at Garfield Estates to taste their award winning Colorado wines and receive 20% off your total wine purchase. Enjoy an evening of wine and food pairing at 626 on Rood, a full service restaurant offering dishes prepared with the highest quality ingredients complimented by an extensive selection of wines from around the world. Use the $50 dining certificate included in your package and receive 2 flights of Colorado wine to taste and compare. After dinner, stroll down Main Street to Planet Wines (Grand Junction’s only wine specialty store) and receive 10% off your purchase of regularly priced wines to remind you of your “Grand” experience.
Junction West RV and Hickory Ridge Golf & RV believe that the addition of creative packages for their guests, is a part of their efforts to differentiate themselves from other RV parks in the area. Most RV parks can only use park features as points of difference but both parks have changed the marketing game by using the attractions and area businesses as key separators. Tom and Mari at Junction West have done all the leg work and separated the average from the greats and negotiated excellent packages. Their efforts allow the RVer to fully enjoy the best of the best, without a lot of time spent on research. This marketing trend is sure to catch on as RVers want to insure they get the best bang for the buck and their time.
Hickory Ridge Golf Country Club & RV also has some very creative packages associated with the golf club and its fine restaurant. In a recent interview Mike LaLonde, general manager, explained how he is using cutting edge technology to promote his very unusual and unique product offering. As an example, if you would like to not only have a golf cart for your golf outing, but use it during your entire stay; this can be arranged so that it is yours and parked at the front door of your RV. Mike has not only created packages with golf but also has fine dining, fishing and sightseeing programs available.
