Park Plan Languishes on Government Inaction
The city of Bathurst, New Brunswick, is still waiting on a funding application toward the establishment of an RV park in downtown Bathurst.
Councillor Hugh Comeau, chairman of the project, said a funding application was made more than six months ago with the province, according to the Bathurst Northern Light.
"We made an application, six, seven months ago and we continue to follow up but just haven't heard yet," he said.
A funding application of about $35,000 is for a feasiblity study on the park. Comeau said there is much to study, including the proposed location along the Bathurst waterfront.
"We just want to do it right," he said. "I think that's going to study how much ground we've got, how much we have to work with, entrances, exits and basically the layout of that.
"On top of that, how many trailers can go in, and if this many trailers are going in, how much profit would it be. That kind of stuff."
Comeau said this project has been talked about for several years and it's a bit disheartening it's not moving along faster.
"We're stagnant until we get can get some funding. Without that, I can't see us putting a whole lot of money into it."
