The hub of a popular resort in Gasconade County, 25 miles west of St. Louis, Mo., has been destroyed by fire.

The Lost Valley Lake Resort near Gerald is 530 acres of lakes, condos, and campgrounds, off Highway 50. On Sunday (Aug. 16), it lost a 20,000-square-foot sports complex and everything inside, according to Associated Press.

Interim manager Carrie Tainter said the complex offered opportunities for mini golf, movies, volleyball, basketball, dances, fitness training, an arcade and bingo. She called it the hub of the resort.

The blaze started around 8:30 A.M., just before opening.

Firefighters pumped water from a swimming pool next door and from two lakes on the property.

In 2004, the main lodge burned. It is being rebuilt.
