Resort to Treat 110 Families to Dream Weekend
Lakewood Camping Resort in Myrtle Beach, S.C., will sponsor a "Labor of Love" essay contest for people without jobs living in the area and provide 110 families free camping over the Labor Day weekend.
Beginning today (Aug. 17), the resort invites Grand Strand residents who have been without a job for at least six months to submit an essay describing why their family deserves a Labor Day vacation at Lakewood Camping Resort. Individuals can also submit an essay for a friend or neighbor who has been without work for six months and is in need of a positive opportunity in their lives, according to WMBF-TV, Myrtle Beach.
The deadline for entries is Aug. 28. Lakewood Camping Resort representatives will read all submitted essays and select 110 winning essays. All winners will be contacted by phone on Sept. 1. The Labor Day Weekend at the Camping Resort will last Sept. 4-7.
Winning families will be provided with a Lakewood campsite and have access to a private beach area for Lakewood guests, a beachfront playground, an indoor-heated swimming pool and spa, five stocked fresh water lakes, golf cart rentals, an arcade with electronic and table-top games for children.
Each winning family will also receive the Family Value Fun Pass to provide each family member with unlimited access to the resort's hippo slide, paddle boats, bicycles, water wars balloon games, kayaks and canoes, pedal boats, mini-golf and bicycle rentals.
Lakewood will also provide a free meal for the families on Saturday and Sunday evenings and tickets to the Saturday night performance of High Steppin' Country Show in the amphitheater. Graham Golf Cars has agreed to also provide each family with a golf cart for the weekend. Winning families will need to bring camping equipment, RV or tent for the site.
