Workampers and Employers of the Year Named
Workamper News has named its Employers of the Year and Workamper Employees of the Year for 2009.
The winners of the ninth annual contest sponsored by the Heber Springs, Ark.-based magazine are:
- Employers Richard and Stacey Biggs of Colorado Heights Camping Resort, Monument, Colo.
- Workampers John and June Clayton, Silver Dollar City Attractions – White Water, located in Branson, Mo.
The Claytons received recognition in the November/December 2009 issue of Workamper News magazine, as well as on Workamper.com. They also received a framed certificate, a $100 Gift Certificate to the Workamper News Store and a two-year WorkamperPlus Electronic subscription to Workamper News.
The Biggses were nominated by 13 of their Workamper employees. They are relatively new owners of Colorado Heights, a Coast to Coast RV resort nestled in the pines of Monument Hill. They purchased the resort from Richard’s parents and have made many improvements, third-season Workampers Bill and Jane Anglin said. “The resort is beautiful, but it is the owner-operators who make the difference,” the Anglins said.
The Workampers who nominated the Biggses all mentioned how they are treated like family and appreciate how Richard and Stacey will accommodate Workampers’ needs and special situations. “An atmosphere of cooperation and camaraderie permeates. Workampers are not only genuinely supportive of one another, but of management as well,” the Anglins said. “Although Stacey and Richard are younger than all but one of their employees, they have the respect of ALL.”
Many nominations were submitted by Workamper employers and Workampers for this yearly award. Winners and all of those who received honorable mention will be highlighted in the November/December 2009 issue of Workamper News.
This year, 11 employers and five Workampers were nominated (two couples; three singles). Employers can be nominated by Workampers. Workampers can be nominated by an employer or by a co-worker. Any one can be nominated, and anyone can win – they do not need to be Workamper News subscribers.
The nomination letters are read by the Workamper News staff, who collectively decide the winners.
Nominations for 2010 will begin next July.
