Neighbors Protest Temporary RV Park for Horse Event
Concerned residents came prepared Friday morning (Dec. 11) to tell the Scott County (Ky.) Fiscal Court a planned RV campground is dangerous and not in the community’s best interest.
The 570 RVs will be housed on a farm off Moores Mill Road during the World Equestrian Games (WEG) north of Lexington, Ky., Sept. 25 to Oct. 10, 2010. The campground site falls outside the boundaries of the WEG clean zone ordinance, according to the Georgetown News Graphic.
“It’s just ridiculous,” said Rodney Nardelli, who lives on the corner off Moores Mill. “It’s physically impossible.”
“We learned about it almost by accident. I’m deeply concerned about the housing,” Magistrate Tom Prather said.
Jamie Link, CEO of WEG Foundation, said he and his organization believe including the RV park within their house bureau and ordinance would be vital to the community.
