Vancouver Park Board Scales Back RV Parking Plans
A lack of demand has forced the Vancouver Park Board to scale back on plans for two planned RV parking sites during the Winter Olympics, according to Radio 1130, Vancouver, British Columbia.
The Jericho Beach site has 95 bookings so far (50% capacity), so the board has scrapped the original idea to have sites at Jericho Beach and Spanish Banks.
The board felt it would be smarter to only run one site. They’re blaming reduced ticket availability south of the border for the lack of sales, as many people planning to bring RVs to Vancouver were American.
It’s a small victory for some people living in the Point Grey neighbouhood, who were concerned about the original plan. The park board says if the demand spikes suddenly before the games, the original plan can still go forward.
