National Park Camping Up in 2009 Too

It turns out that camping in national parks, too, was up in 2009.

“Overall, camping was up more than overall national park visits — same as in state parks,” noted Derrick Crandall, president of the American Recreation Coalition. “But neither visits nor camping grew quite as much in national parks as the increase the state parks experienced.”

According to data available at, year-to-date camping in national parks for 2008 versus 2009 was:
