Park Discounts for Seniors, Disabled Likely Dead
South Carolina House lawmakers have essentially struck down a proposal to allow South Carolina seniors, the blind and disabled to receive half priced admission to state parks and campgrounds, according to S.C. Politics Today.
Under the proposal, disabled vets would have received free admission. Lawmakers said the proposal is an unbearable $1.5 million blow to the state's Parks, Recreation and Tourism agency in a tough budget year.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Jimmy Bales, D-Richland, was sent back to committee where it's likely to die.
