Florida/Alabama ARVC Holds States Convention
The Florida and Alabama Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds like to call their annual convention “A Dream Vacation with Name Tags,” and that is just what this year’s event turned out to be.
More than 60 RV parks and campgrounds were represented during the two-day event May 19-20 at the Sun-N-Fun Resort and Campground in Sarasota, where members experienced a little bit of paradise.
“This year’s annual conference and expo was a huge success,” said Pat Radtke, meeting planner. “This was the first time the convention was held at a campground and the staff was great.”
Seminars included: Florida Friendly Landscaping; Legal Issues, Evictions, Park Trailers, Regulations and More, with David Eastman, Florida ARVC attorney, Jim Tillman, Florida ARVC legislative consultant, and Bill Garpow, RPTIA; Growing your Business through your Website; Renovating and Re-habing an Older Park; Working with Law Enforcement; Exceeding Expectations and Team Building.
“Everyone left the convention taking away at least one new idea with them and that is the important thing,” Radtke said. “It’s time away to learn and have a good time. It was well attended and many people came on site that didn’t pre-register.”
During the annual meeting election for the board of directors was held. Re-elected to the board were Chris Long, Central Park of Haines City; Rob Smith, The Harbor RV Resort; Lynda Phelps, Upriver Campground; and Bob Little, Flamingo Lake Resort.
There were 26 supplier members at the expo.
“We had exhibitors come back and say it was the best trade show they have been at in a while,” Radtke said.
Mark and Clark, The Twin Piano Twins, provided the entertainment.
Next year’s 2011 Annual Conference and Expo will be at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., May 18-19.
