KOA Reports Camping Continues on the Rise
Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) reports that reservations for the nearly 500 Kampgrounds of America (KOA) campgrounds for summer holidays are already up from last year’s numbers, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
KOA also reports success in the latest outdoor trend: lodging. Lodges at KOA campgrounds across the nation allow people to camp with relatively more creature comforts. KOA stats from the last quarter of 2009 indicate that campers who are lodging have increased by 8.2% and 14.3% in registration revenues. Data also shows that lodges have attracted an overwhelming amount of people who weren’t willing to give camping a try.
KOA is adding 400 lodges to its network of campgrounds in 2010.
The furnished lodges include full kitchens, bathrooms, fireplaces, flat screen TVs, heating and air conditioning and all the comforts of home, which means if you prefer not to sleep in a tent in all of nature’s glory, you can get pretty close to it in a lodge.
In addition to lodges, KOA’s also have teepees, kabins kottages and even RVs on hand, taking the whole concept of “Komfort Kamping” to the next level. Of course, for those who still love the traditional idea of camping (i.e. tent or bring your own RV), KOA still goes for that, too.
