Bill and Betty Workman, owners of the Vacation Trailer Park in Benzonia, Mich., were named 2010 Seasonal Employee of the Year for the state of Michigan.

The Workmans were among 12 people engaged in the Michigan lodging and tourism industries who were honored Thursday (May 6) as “Stars of the Industry” by the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association. The awards were presented during the “Stars of the Industry” awards dinner at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

The Workmans have owned Vacation Trailer Park campground for 42 years. They are also the owners of Vacation Trailer Sales, an RV sales business. Gov. Beverly Granholm selected this campground twice for a weekend camping and fishing trip with her family.

The Workmans have both served on the board of directors for the Michigan Association of Recreational Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC). The Workmans have also served on the board of the Benzie County Convention and Visitors Bureaus. Over the span of their careers, they have served as volunteers on MARVAC’s Strategic Planning and RV Show as well as numerous other tourism-related committees.
