Motorhome Park Planned in Pensacloa Beach
The Santa Rosa Island Authority approved a lease modification earlier this week paving the way for a 50-site recreational vehicle campground on Pensacola Beach, Fla. according to Pensacola Business.
The modification allows two adjacent properties on Santa Rosa Sound to be combined into one lease.
The request was made by Thomas M. Bizzell, on behalf of owner and developer Jim Reeves and his Tiki House Inc.
SRIA Executive Director Buck Lee said Reeves' plans for the motorhome park will be reviewed at its regular board meeting in late June.
Lee said Reeves, a Pensacola attorney, plans on spending between $700,000 and $900,000 to convert the two properties into a campground with a potential capacity of 50 sites for recreational vehicles.
Restrictions on the length of stay for each vehicle will be included in the final agreement between Reeves and the SRIA.
Lee estimates that once the now vacant land is converted into a recreational vehicle campground it will generate between $18,000 and $25,000 in additional revenue for the SRIA.
SRIA members also agreed in principle to give Reeves a 10-year lease permitting its use as a recreational vehicle campground, with an option to renew it for an additional five years.
