Alma Mater Inducts Coles into Hall of Fame
The fifth Buckeye Central Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame induction was held June 5 at the Celebration of Education in New Washington, Ohio. Inductees included campground owners Gary D. Cole and Vicki Cole, the Bucyrus Telegraph Forum reported.
A 1963 graduate of Buckeye Central High School, Gary D. Cole received an associate’s degree in 1965 from DeVry Technical Institute and received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering in 1969 and a master’s degree in agricultural engineering in 1970, both from The Ohio State University.
He was an engineer with Floyd Browne Associates Inc. of Marion from 1970 to 1992, and is the co-owner owner of the Wagon Wheel Campground/Shelby/Mansfield KOA. He was a member of the Buckeye Central School Board, a board member of the Ohio Campground Owners Association and a KOA board board member since 2005.
Vicki Cole is a 1966 graduate of Buckeye Central High School, a 1970 graduate of Capital University with a bachelor’s degree in music education and received her master’s degree in education in 1992 from Heidelberg University.
She taught music for 30 years, including six years at Buckeye Central.
She is the co-owner of the Wagon Wheel Campground/Shelby/Mansfield KOA, a member of the KOA Owners Association board since 2008 and a board member of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) board since 2009.
