Oregon Board Says RV Park Owner Owes $20K in Fees
It was standing room only at a special board meeting at the Charleston, Ore., Sanitary District Wednesday (Aug. 4).
Citizens supporting Midway RV Park owner Mike Mrkonic turned out in droves, but ultimately, the board ruled against him, KCBY-TV, North bend, Ore., reported.
In a hearing that lasted three hours, the Charleston Sanitary District emerged from an executive board meeting with its decision.
It took them just 10 minutes to decide to charge Mrkonic $20,800 in fees.
KCBY spoke to Mrkonic later, and he said the board dropped a little more than $5,000 in charges pertaining to recreational park trailers.
It all goes back to when Mrkonic expanded his RV park in 2002 and 2004.
The Sanitary District says Mrkonic did not receive zoning clearance to expand the park and did not authorize connections from the district.
Mrkonic claims he has the paperwork to prove otherwise.
He said after Wednesday's ruling that the Charleston Sanitary District told him they have the right to collect at any time.
