A northwestern Pennsylvania campground that was shut down for failing to comply with state health codes has been allowed to reopen, the Centre Daily Times reported.

Erie County Judge Shad Connelly said that Moon Meadows Campground can reopen because its owners have made improvements at the Greenfield Township facility. There are still some unresolved water issues at the site, but the county is also allowing the campground to operate.

Owner Thomas Peckham said there were about 40 people there over the Labor Day weekend.

Problems at the campground began in June 2009 when county inspectors found raw sewage on the property and discovered that septic work had been done without a permit. At the time, Peckham refused to make improvements and was found in contempt of court and briefly jailed. The campground was closed in August.
