All provincial campground, parks and beaches in  Nova Scotia will be closed down today (Sept. 3) as Hurricane Earl approaches, the Halifax Chronicle-Herald reported.

Provincial camping parks will close at 1 p.m. and all other provincial parks will shut down at 7 p.m., the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources announced late today.

These facilities will remain closed until further notice and campers will get full refunds for cancellations because of Earl.

The province will check all locations on Sunday for damage and safety concerns and announce park openings through the media.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, Acadia National Park will close Blackwoods and Seawall campgrounds, as well as Duck Harbor Campground on Isle au Haut at 5 p.m. As a result, all campers will be required to vacate their sites, the Village Soup, Belfast, Maine, reported.
