Watchdog Gives New York Governor Poor Marks
The Adirondack Council's 25th annual "State of the Park" report gives poor grades to the administration of New York Gov. David Patterson, the Associated Press reported.
The annual report reviews the actions of elected officials, state and federal agencies and others involved in decisions that affect the Adirondack Park.
Adirondack Council Executive Director Brian Houseal said in a press release accompanying the report that Paterson cut all environmental spending by more than 20% and threatened to shut down more than 50 state parks and campgrounds.
Houseal added that Paterson did nothing that the Adirondack Common Ground Alliance advised him to do in terms of economic development.
