The Kearney, Neb., city council voted to annex a tract of land into city limits Tuesday (Jan. 11) that will be home to a future RV park, the Kearney Hub reported.

Keith and Jan Rodehorst of North Shore Marina LLC are building the 80-site RV park.

In its regular meeting Nov. 9, the city council approved a request from North Shore for a conditional-use permit for the park. The Kearney Planning Commission recommended annexing the land at its Dec. 17 meeting.

The 15.16-acre parcel is north of Interstate 80 along the north side of the north channel of the Platte River, also known as Turkey Creek, and east of Avenue M.

The property will be developed in phases. Phase 1 will include an office, laundry and shower building and about 35 RV pads. The pads will be 30 feet by 100 feet with water and sewer and electric hookups.

The Rodehorsts plan bicycle rentals for the hike-bike trail, a nature walk along Turkey Creek, a swimming pool and tent camping areas by the creek.

The property is contiguous to city limits. The Rodehorsts intend to connect the park to city sewer and water.
