A park board recommendation to divest of six park properties, including a city-owned RV park, in Bartlesville, Okla., is expected to be considered by the Bartlesville City Council during a meeting  on Jan. 18, the Examiner Enterprise reported.

In a meeting on Nov. 5, 2010, the board determined that Colonial Park, Brookline Park, Southside Park, Sunset Place Park, Valley View Park, William R. Smith Park and the RV park in Johnstone Park were underutilized and should be considered for divestment.

Colonial Park is the only property located in a neighborhood with an active homeowners association. City staff members contacted the Colonial Homeowners Association to propose that the association take over the maintenance of the park, with is used almost exclusively by neighborhood residents.

A formal agreement — regarding the responsibilities of the association in maintaining the park — is being negotiated.

The poard is recommending to the council that the remaining six parks be sold by the city clerk, pursuant to the city’s bid procedures.
