The Olney, Ill., city council briefly discussed on Monday (Jan. 31) the possibility of establishing a campground at city-owned property near East Fork Lake, the Olney Daily Mail reported

There are three areas near East Fork Lake under consideration for a potential campground: an area where the Saddle Club has an arena, a 20-acre area south of Golf Lane on Holly Road and an area across from the boat ramp at Rotary Park.

Mayor Mark Lambird said the campground idea will probably not be done this year or next year, but it could be something that will bring people into the area and utilize the lake, although it would be an expense in the short-term.
